Decks & Stairs in Central Jersey

DRAFT COPY: not yet reviewed

Built to stand up to a Jersey winter.

New pressure-treated entry stairs with turned balusters and a full handrail beside a side door

Rotted exterior stairs are the thing people put off until somebody nearly falls. A soft tread, a post that moves when you lean on it, or a railing that has pulled away from the house is usually a one or two day rebuild in pressure-treated stock.

Exterior work in New Jersey has to survive freeze-thaw, salt air off the shore and thirty inches of rain a year. That means pressure-treated stock, proper post bases and fasteners that will outlast the lumber. Interior hardwood stairs are under Carpentry & Trim. I rebuild exterior stairs and repair decks across Monmouth, Ocean and Middlesex counties.

What that covers

  • Exterior stairs and stringers
  • Railings, balusters and handrails
  • Deck board replacement
  • Post and footing replacement
  • Ledger and framing repair
  • Pressure-treated framing
  • Exterior trim repair
  • Code-height railings and baluster spacing
